Continuing his Tea Party fight against the Tennessee Republican establishment, Lascassas State Rep. Joe Carr says he will run for party chairman next month. Carr, who unsuccessfully challenged Senator Lamar Alexander in the August primary, will run against current party Chief Chris Devaney in the December 6th contest. Carr says it’s time for change in the party to create an environment where more participation is encouraged throughout the state to bridge a growing divide. Carr carried Middle Tennessee counties in the race against Alexander, picking up 271,000 votes statewide. He didn’t endorse Alexander in this month’s general election. Devaney is seeking his 4th term as party chairman.
