Tennessee’s Unemployment Rate Drops

Tennessee’s unemployment rate dropped in December, but the jobless rate here stubbornly remains above the national average. Unemployment dropped by 2/10ths a point to 6.6 percent last month compared to November. The national rate in December was 5.6 percent. All told, the jobless rate in Tennessee fell by 2.4 percent last year compared to 2013. University of Tennessee economist Dr. Bill Fox says there was solid growth in nearly all job sectors in the state last year. He says he’s optimistic about further improvements this year.
