Manchester Police say they are cracking down on suspected local drug dealers who tapped illegal suppliers in Mexico by way of a gang based Atlanta, Georgia transfer point. “Operation Breaking Ice” took off Friday as local, state and federal law men started serving arrest warrants on nearly 100 drug suspects. Manchester Police Chief Mark Yother says the investigation dates back 2 years, when local detectives noted the apparent flow of illegal drugs into the area from out of state. 96 persons targeted by the investigation, the largest drug sweep in Manchester Police Department History. Most suspects were rounded up over the weekend. At least 16 area being held on federal drug charges. Yother says suspects allegedly distributed illegal crystal methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs.
