Study Predicts Population Growth in Tennessee over 25 Years

A University of Tennessee report says the state’s population should hit the 8.5 million mark by 2040, and most of the growth will favor urban areas. The Center for Business and Economic Research predicts Middle Tennessee will lead the state in growth. Rutherford, Williamson and Wilson Counties are expected to grown rapidly in the next 25 years. The Center predicts almost 70% of the population growth will be concentrated around Nashville, Memphis, Clarksville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Sevier County.
