Tennessee’s unemployment rate remained unchanged for the 3rd consecutive month in August. Officials say the rate remained at 5.7% last month, well above the national average of 5.1%. In the past year, Tennessee employers have added 52,000 jobs. The unemployment rate has dropped from 6.6% in August, 2014. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports employers are finding it much harder to fill some job slots, particularly for skilled occupations. So far the effort to fill more jobs has not resulted in any wage gains.
