A Chattanooga man dead after he saved his daughter from the path of a train Thursday afternoon. Authorities say Justin McCarthy was walking with his 10-year-old daughter on a railroad trestle near south Chickamauga creek when a train approached from a bend in the tracks. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports McCarthy pushed his daughter off the trestle to safety but died when the CSX locomotive hit him. Police say the juvenile suffered non-life-threatening injuries. CSX says it regrets the tragic accident. The train featured 95 freight cars carrying coal.
