Tennessee Senator Bob Corker says completion of the unit 2 reactor at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Watts Bar plant is great news for the region and the future of nuclear power generation. The Chattanooga republican says regulatory approval for the unit is a testament to the outstanding leadership and hard work of so many across the Tennessee Valley. Corker says watts bar completion will help TVA carry out its mission to supply clean, affordable and reliable electric energy. TVA got approval to fire up the 2nd watts bar reactor last week—more than 30 years after construction started on the project. The giant federal utility says unit 2 will generate enough power to serve 650,000 homes when it goes on line next year.
