One Dead after Wrong-Way Crash on I-24

One man dead, four hurting after a wrong—way crash on interstate 24 early Sunday morning. The Tennessee highway patrol says an 82-year-old man was driving his Toyota west in the eastbound lanes of I-24 near Monteagle and struck a Chrysler minivan head-on. A tractor-trailer rig then crashed into the Toyota. John Nagata, of Huntsville, AL., the Toyota driver, died at the scene. 4 passengers in the Chrysler van were hurt. They all listed Wisconsin addresses. The truck driver was uninjured. The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department says the injured were airlifted from the wreck scene by helicopter ambulances. The eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours Sunday morning as a result of the fatal accident.
