Deal Reached on Housing Authority Theft Charges

Prosecutors say a former employee of the South Pittsburg Public Housing Authority has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $5,400 while she worked as Manager for the Government Office. Leslie Jackson has agreed to repay money she took from the authority and testify in any future legal action against 2 other former housing authority employees.Under a judicial diversion agreement, her record could be expunged if she stays out of trouble for 2 years. Former authority accounting director Janice Brooks is accused to taking more than $127,000 over a period of years. Former executive Terry Case has also been charged with theft as the result of a comptroller’s audit. Case is a member of the Marion County School Board. Both Brooks and case are free under bond pending court action.
