Ooltewah Teens Could Face Adult Charges

Three Ooltewah High School Basketball players charged with attacking a team mate last month could be tried as adults. Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond says the court status of the trio will be determined by a Sevier County Judge. A 17 year old student and two 16 year old team players are now facing juvenile charges of rape and assault. Investigators say the 3 allegedly use a pool cue stick to assault a 15 year old while staying unsupervised at a Gatlinburg rental cabin. The victim required surgery to repair his rectum, bladder and prostrate. Hammon says he doesn’t believe any other juveniles or adults will be charged. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports the Ooltewah Basketball Coach has be reassigned to another district school.
