A Coffee County woman has been indicted on 2nd Degree Murder Charges after prosecutors say her methamphetamine addiction resulted in the death of her newborn child. Brittany Evans, age 28, was arrested following a January indictment by a Coffee County Grand Jury. District Attorney General Craig Northcott says Evans baby died shortly after birth. Autopsy results reveal the newborn suffered from a high level of the street drug. Northcott says Evans indictment marks the 1st prosecution in the state allowed by a law change that increases penalties fro drug addicted mothers whose newborns die as a result. Evans is jailed under a $50,000 bond.
