Tullahoma Fireman Injured in Fire

A Tullahoma fireman is expected to fully recover from injuries sustained while battling a blaze at a West Decherd Street home Thursday. Fireman Tim Pitts was attempting to douse an attic fire at the home when the ceiling supports gave way, causing to fall several feet onto the floor of the home. He is being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for back and neck injuries. Pitts, a 24 year veteran of the department, was reportedly listed in stable condition at the Nashville Hospital over the weekend. Department Chief Richard Shasteen says the incident marks the first serious injury of a Tullahoma Fireman in many years. The occupants of the home escaped unharmed after a cat alerted them to the blaze.
