NISSAN SALES UP—GM, VOLKSWAGEN DOWN

The company’s popular sport utility models continue to fly off from dealer lots. Nissan operates a final assembly plant in Smyrna and an engine plant in Decherd. Volkswagen says it sales dropped by 13 percent in February compared to last year. Sales of the Passat sedan made in Chattanooga were off by more than 30 percent. General motors, which has an assembly line in Maury County, says last month’s sales were down by 1.5 percent, mainly due to less demand from rental companies.
