State’s Unemployment Rate at 8 Year Low

Tennessee’s unemployment rate in January dipped to an 8 yer low. The Department of Labor and Workforce Development says unemployment dropped by .2% a point from December, settling at 5.4%. That’s Tennessee’s lowest jobless rate since November, 2007 and is about half the unemployment rate posted during the darkest days of the great recession of 2008. Officials say Tennessee employers have added about 100,000 new jobs in the past fox calls the state’s job growth “extraordinary”.
