NO VOLKSWAGEN CUTS PLANNED

Volkswagen says it has no plans to lay off workers at its Chattanooga assembly line despite a sales slump of the Passat sedan made there. The German automaker also reeling from a diesel emissions scandal that will force the company to recall around 500,000 cars sold in the US but Volkswagen is spending $600 million to add a new s-u-v line at Chattanooga. Around 2,400 work at the Chattanooga plant. Manchester’s M-Tek factory produces interior trim for Volkswagen.
