Birth Control Pill Container
Pharmacists will be allowed to fill birth control prescriptions with pre-approval by doctors under legislation passed by the senate. Nashville Republican sponsor Steve Dickerson says the bill would allow women age 18 and older to obtain contraceptives directly at the drug store. Now a doctor’s prescription is required. Druggists wanting to provide birth control would have to reach a collaborative agreement with a doctor. Dickerson says his move would save time and money, and make birth control more accessible. The house version is set for committee action today.
