Federal officials say Tennessee is due more than $64 million in transportation funding due to congressional action dating back 10 years. The Tennessean reports the 1—time infusion results from 57 congressional earmarks for special local road projects. Another $86 million may be available if the state can document action on projects more than 10 years old. A state transportation official says the Washington windfall will be used for safety improvements, road resurfacing and bridge repairs in each of Tennessee’s 95 counties.
