I-24 Snarles in Coffee, Marion Counties

Separate weekend accidents snarled eastbound traffic on Interstate 24 Saturday and Sunday. A tractor trailer car hauling rig caught fire in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 near the 110 ext in Manchester Sunday Morning. Traffic was diverted away from the section for several hours as firemen battled the blaze and crews later worked to remove wreckage from alongside the interstate. No injuries reported as a result of the incident. A tractor trailer rig slammed into slowed eastbound I–24 traffic Saturday in Marion County. The truck hit 8 vehicles slowed at the construction site near the 164 mile marker. WRCB-TN reports at least 6 were injured. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says charges may be pending in connection with the incident.
