Tennessee senate speaker Ron Ramsey says he’s ending his 20 year political career in Nashville. The Blountville republican emotionally announced his retirement on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Ramsey, age 60, served 2 terms as a state representative before gaining a senate seat. He has been senate speaker and lt. Governor since 2007. Ramsey says he wants to spend more time with his family. Ramsey is the 1st Republican lt. Governor of Tennessee since reconstruction. He lost a 3—man G-O-P primary race for Governor to Bill Haslam in 2010.
