Southern Middle Tennessee power customers will enjoy a slight rate break next month. The Tennessee valley authority says it’s cutting the April fuel surcharge portion of its wholesale rate—a move that should reduce the average homeowner’s bill by about $2 compared to a year ago. Utility spokesman Scott Brown says next month’s adjustment is about 25 percent below a 3—year average of fuel costs charged by TVA. Brown says the rate drop is due to milder weather and lower natural gas prices.
