Old Stone Fort Golf Course Reopening

Southern Middle Tennessee Golfers will once again enjoy 9 holes of play at Manchester’s Old Stone Fort Golf Course. The abandoned State Park course off Highway 41 North has been bought from Tennessee Park System for $561,000. The Manchester Times reports Driver Properties LLC expects to reopen the course within the next 12-18 months. Company Spokesman Eugene “Tink” Driver says he’s working to renovate fairways, greens and tee boxes left unattended since the State closed the course in 2011 due to operating losses. Driver says the Club House will be renovated. The course was built in the late 1960’s as a private country club and was then acquired as part of Old Stone Fort State Park. The course was popular with seniors but closed as the park system tried to dry red ink at several state-run golf venues.
