A move that would slash funding for the University Of Tennessee’s diversity program and instead offer religious decals for police cars has been sidetracked in the State Senate. A Chattanooga republican State Senator wanted to cut money for the UT office and instead offer “In God We Trust” decals for patrol cars. The Senate Education Committee referred the bill for further study Wednesday, effectively killing the nature for this Legislative session. Some Republican Lawmakers have been critical of the diversity program since it promoted Gender-Neutral pronouns and “Inclusive Holiday Celebrations” at the Knoxville Campus. Republican Gov. Bill Haslam says he doesn’t favor deleting money for the diversity program.
