Bedford County Man Convicted on Murder Charges

A Bedford County man implicated in the 2011 disappearance and presumed death of his estranged wife has been found guilty of attempted 1st degree murder in Florida. Tyler Mook was charged with attempted murder in October, 2014 after an altercation with his girlfriend in Martin County. Witnesses say Mook threw her from a boat, ripped off her swimsuit top and attempted to drown her. He claimed he would kill her because she was disrespectful of him before family. The woman was saved by Mook’s brother. Mook is linked to the 2011 disappearance of his estranged wife, Shelly Mook. Her burned car was found outside Murfreesboro. Shelly Mook’s body has never been found. Tyler Mook was the last person to see the woman before she disappeared. Shelly Mook was a teacher at Shelbyville’s Harris Middle School.
