Area employers continued to add new job slots across Southern Middle Tennessee in February. The State Department of Labor and Workforce Development says 93 counties added jobs in February compared to January. The unemployment rate went up in only 1 county. Coffee County’s unemployment rate dropped by a half point to 4.2% last month. About 1,000 are without jobs. Bedford County’s rate dropped by a half point to 4.4% in February with about 900 seeking work in that county. The Franklin County jobless rate fell by 3/10ths a point to 4.2%, leaving 800 looking for employment. Warren County’s rate fell to 4.3% with Grundy County dropping to 6%. The statewide unemployment rate in February was 4.9%.
