Bathroom Bill Proceeds in Tennessee this Week

Despite push-back from entertainers, companies, and local governments, proponents of a controversial bill that would oversee bathroom use in schools will forge ahead this week. The bill would require transgender students to use restroom and lock room facilities based on the sex listed on their birth certificate. Nashville Mayor Megan Berry says the legislation, if approved, could cost the city more than $60 million in lost convention business. A variety of companies, including Viacom have expressed concern. Entertainer Miley Cyrus says she’s opposed to the bill. A Senate panel could consider the potty bill as soon as Tuesday.
