Controversial 4th District Republican Congressman Scott Desjarlais reports raising some $140,000 during the 1st quarter. He’s picking up support from some elected officials in the sprawling district and also lists small contributions from bankers, AT&T and a hard line Conservative Political Action Committee. Desjarlais reported $346,000 cash on hand at the end of March. His Murfreesboro primary challenger, Grant Starrett, has yet to file a 1st quarter report with federal officials. He says he had a war chest amounting to some $729,000 at the end of 2015. Desjarlais won a GOP challenge by Shelbyville State Senator Jim Tracy by a 40 vote margin in 2014. The district includes Franklin, Grundy, Warren, Bedford, Moore and Rutherfod Counties.
