A pair of State Lawmakers are calling for a Federal and State investigation after an unknown number of grade school children were arrested and detained by police last week. Democrat State Representatives Mike Stewart and John Clemmons say they understand the outrage of parents upset by the action of Murfreesboro police. The Tennessean reports several children ranging in ages 6 – 11 were handcuffed, arrested and briefly detained on Friday. Authorities claim the Hobgood Elementary School Students allegedly failed to break up a fight off school grounds. The lawmakers say it’s clear the State and Federal Civil Rights of the children were violated. Murfreesboro City Officials and Police leaders say they are reviewing the incident.
