Nuke Safety Good in Tennessee

The Tennessee Valley Authority’s oldest nuclear reactor gets good safety marks from federal regulators. This despite 4 unplanned quick shutdowns or “scrams” at the facility outside Chattanooga last year. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the Sequoyah plant is operated in a safe manner and gave it top ratings in all but 1 area under review. TVA says it is reviewing ways to address potential shut-downs in the future. None of instances last year posed any threat to public safety.
