Bridge Over Rutledge Falls to Close

A bridge on Cat Creek Road spanning Crumpton’s Creek in Coffee County set for closure next week after State Inspectors found it in poor condition. The two lane concrete span is just above the popular Rutledge Falls recreation area midway between Tullahoma and Manchester. The Department of Transportation says the bridge is suffering from crumbling concrete and rusting steel supports. The span will close to all traffic may 9th. Repairs are expect to last through the summer. County road Superintendent Benton Bartlet says repairing the bridge will cost at least $250,000. The bridge was built in 1940 and updated in 1970. It overlooks the popular Rutledge Falls and Cascades enjoyed by many particularly in the summer.
