Middle Tennessee State University Provost Brad Bartel will retire at the end of the spring semester, according to a message he sent to university faculty earlier this month.
“After a non-instructional assignment, I will be continuing at MTSU as a professor within the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, and look forward to returning to my first love — teaching and mentoring students beginning with the Spring 2017 semester,” Bartel said in an April 13 message to faculty.
Bartel has served as university provost for six years after coming to MTSU from Fort Lewis College in Colorado.
