Tullahoma republican State Senator Janice Bowling joining a call for Tennessee to fight federal regulations banning transgender discrimination at public school restrooms and locker facilities. 26 republican senators say they want Attorney General Herb Slatery to sue Washington over the ruling. The federal government has threatened to with hold education funding from states that have banned transgender students from using facilities based on their sexual identification rather than the gender listed on their birth certificate. Bowling says Washington has no authority to accommodate students with mental disorders at the expense of mentally healthy students. Monday the Supreme Court refused to review a lower court decision against transgender discrimination.
