Officials with the Tennessee Department of Health confirmed Thursday there has been a third recorded case of the Zika virus in the state.
The case was reported in Rutherford County, said Woody McMillin, director of communications for the state health department.
The individual traveled to the Caribbean, McMillin said, where they probably contracted the virus. There has been no recorded local transmission of the disease, he said.
This is the third recorded case of the virus in Tennessee. The first was recorded in February in East Tennessee. The second was found in West Tennessee.
