Former MTSU Professor Charged with Murder of his Wife

636002306862643619-huhtas.jpgFormer MTSU history professor James Huhta — the driving force behind the creation of MTSU’s Center for Historic Preservation — is being charged in the stabbing death of his wife, Mary Huhta, 79, according to Rose Anne Brown, public information officer for the Riviera Beach Police Department in Riviera Beach, Fla.

The incident occurred Friday at the Huhtas’ Singer Island condominium, where they live part of the year to be near grandchildren.

Police believe James Huhta fatally stabbed his wife in bed before jumping out the second-floor window of their Florida condominium.
