Bledsoe County authorities say it’s not clear what caused the death of a jail inmate found unresponsive Saturday. Christopher Armacher was picked up Friday night to serve 48 hours detention for a previous drug conviction. Pikeville jailers found him dead Saturday morning at breakfast. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to review the jail death. An autopsy has been ordered. District Attorney General Mike Taylor says foul play is not suspected.
Late last month a Tullahoma man apparently hung himself at the Coffee County Jail. Authorities say David Bass was found unresponsive in his Manchester jail cell. CPR didn’t revive the man, who was charged with attempting to burn his estranged girlfriend. The TBI is also investigation his death.
